Pharmaceutical College, Toulouse
This Faculty of Pharmacy is the last link in the important School of Sciences of Toulouse University. Situated in a urban environnement, this school complex for teaching, training and research has been conceived on the basis of a “garden faculty'' - unlike the other buildings.
(3 levels with intermediate access - one floor up and one on the garden level).
The accepted principle consists in creating large umbrella-shaped shells, within which large areas can be remodeled without support. Spherical vaults varying from 40 to 60m are made of pre-stressed concrete. Their geometry leaves an easy flow for rain-water or snow. Indoor spaces are diversified, so that they offer a varied architectural outlook.
Lighting and materials enhance the quality of life of teachers and students. This rythmic architecture makes the best use of the contemporary technique for a true creation.
