Velodromes : Covered Stadium, Bordeaux (France) - 1987Built in workshop-manufactured, prefabricated glued laminated cameroon wood (Doussié), this covered cycling stadium can accommodate 5 to 8.000 spectators and besides providing a cycling track in accordance with international standards (250 m circumference, 7 meters wide, and oval shape), it has an athletics track - 60 m - and offers various possibilities for other sport facilities. The whole complex, situated on a 75 m side square plan, is covered with lacquered steel pans with insulation and colour treatment fitting the environment.
The marshy soil required 20 m deep piles foundalions, and a light wood roof that the architect willingly designed to be visible.
